Keyless Entry Remote for 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS

The remote for my car broke off from my key chain a week ago. As of yesterday, I could no longer find it. So I've been searching around for a replacement. However, everywhere I look, the replacement looks like the one for my wife's 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi. So now I'm wondering if the newer remotes will work on my older Subaru . . . Anyone have any ideas?

I played around with the two remotes this weekend. Unfortunately, they are not compatible. The 2004 remote does not work on my 2001 vehicle. That's too bad, because there are a lot of the newer remote on eBay for very good price.

Hey,
I have a 2001 subaru impreza 2.5 rs that I got used and it never came with a keyless entry remote and yesterday the alarm went off and I had no way of turning it off. Now i read the manual and there is a shut off button under the steering column but mine is broken off and I have no idea as to where the button is that the plastic cover broke off of. Do you have any idea or pictures from your car as to where this button is supposed to be located or what the button looks like if the plastic black piece is broken off. I cannot shut off my alarm, i had to pull the wire out of the siren under the hood to stop the noise, but the alarm is still triggered in my car and it will not start so i cannot drive it in to a dealer to get it fixed. Any ideas, suggestions, pictures of where this button exists. I would appreciate it,

I bought the Remocon Programmable Remote Control (see photo below) off eBay. It is suppose to be able to read your car and your garage door remote control and duplicate its functions. The instruction sheets indicates that it supports the following three frequency ranges: 1) 255 - 295 MHz; 2) 295 - 355 MHz; 3) 355 - 500 MHz. But after programming my car remote to it, it doesn't work with my car. I've tried all three bands and programmed the remote to all three bands. The remote indicates successful programming to all three bands. But nothing. :-(

Hi,I am sales of Remocon International Co., LTd.

Firstly, since our LRT-1 can only used to program fixed code remote controls.
You must make sure that your car remote is a fixed code remote so that it will work successfully.

Secondly, did you adjust the frequency of LRT-1.
You must adjust the frequency of LRT-1 to the right frequency(same as your car remote) so that
it can work with your car.
