PlanetSide 2: Fastest Way to Gain Certification Points

With the official public launch of PlanetSide 2 only four days away, I decided to try the beta to learn the basics to gain an advantage when the game is released. Once thing I learned is that shooting your way to the top is a really slow way to acquire certification points. Perhaps I'm not a good FPS player, so your mileage will vary with your skill. But I found a way to rack up certification points and level up ranking without killing a single enemy.

The trick is to play the engineer class and spawn at a front line where there are tens to hundreds of your comrades fighting. Then all you have to do is drop your ammo pack at the densest areas. Your teammates and squad members will be picking up ammo while giving you between 10 and 17 experience points each time. In an hour, I was about to acquire about 8 certification points. In two hours, I had about 20.

I suspect you can do something similar, or even better rate, with another support class, like the medic. This is, of course, on the beta test server. And we'll see what the real cert point rate is in a few days. I'll keep you posted.

SOE has posted the official Cert gain rates and weapon cert pricing for the PlanetSide 2 release. At this time, SOE will be changing the exchange of XP to cert at 250 to 1.

The PlanetSide 2 Wikia has the Experience Points charts. Although it's based on beta, you can quickly see the ballpark of the certification point gaining rate.

Here is another way to gain some more cert points: Tip: Keep using the same weapon until you get 1000 kills so you will get 100 cert Reward

Following are more cert gaining methods from this thread: Your Best Method of Cert Farming

"i like to destroy all the turrets on a base while attacking then go repair them after we take it and i end up with 10+ certs" - Siuki

"Repairing turrets at an Amp Station can get me over 30 certs before I'm done with all of the turrets." - TatharNuar

"Anyway the best method of cert farm is to defend bases since you get a bonus. It's easiest to defend Tech Plant. Second easiest is Bio Lab if you know how. I always watch the map, and when I see the enemy starting to attack one I get excited, and deploy there as fast as I can. Lots of hilarity, easy kills, and certs after that." - Sifer2

"Play to spend ammo. Don't try to live a long time or you'll just end up behind cover or around corners not earning certs. Throw your grenade every life, and try to constantly be putting ammo down field at red triangles. If you are running out of ammo or using your resto kit you're probably doing it wrong. Playing conservatively just gives you conservative cert gain." - VKhaun

"I got 58 certs in 30min by only repairing and resupplying a Squadmate in a Max. he got a ton of kills being kind of an invincible unstoppable Max holding off a choke-point." - Thorlord

"run around lightly defended amp stations overloading the gens. 100 points each leave claymores behind but not where the exploding gen will kill them." - BANGbangBANG

Title: PlanetSide 2: Be Careful with the Gun, Medic!
Weblog: GearHack
Excerpt: Before PlanetSide 2 launch, I wrote the "PlanetSide 2: Fastest Way to Gain Certification Points" article. And I had been doing just that to level up my brand new characters. So far, I had been dishing out the ammo boxes and fixing tanks. But later, I switched to the medic class to try out the healin . . .

Title: PlanetSide 2: Cert Points and Loadouts
Weblog: GearHack
Excerpt: Now that I'm gaining certification points rather quickly (see "PlanetSide 2: Fastest Way to Gain Certification Points"), I'm seeing some pitfalls with the unlocks and load-outs. Apparently, when you unlock new skills and equipments, your character doesn't automatically equip them, even if you have n . . .

Title: PlanetSide 2: Sunderer Deployment
Weblog: GearHack
Excerpt: It's probably the first thing you should unlock as soon as you have 50 cert points. That's because once you've deployed a Sunderer, your teammates can all spawn on it, giving you valuable experience points (translates into cert points) and helping you win the war.

Title: PlanetSide 2: Single Cert Point Unlockable Abilities
Weblog: GearHack
Excerpt: The biggest complaint about the free to play PlanetSide 2 game is that you have to farm a lot of unlock anything in the game. That's not entirely true as there are many skills that can be unlocked with a single cert point. And consider that 250 XP is one cert point, which means a little more than 2 . . .

Title: PlanetSide 2: Create All Your Characters on Day 1 to Start Gaining Passive Certification Points
Weblog: GearHack
Excerpt: As identified in the "PlanetSide 2: How Many Characters Per Server?" thread, you can have up to three PlanetSide 2 characters per SOE account. If you are planning to play only a single PlanetSide 2 character forever, then this post doesn't apply to you. But if you ever have a remote chance of playin . . .
