Login to Chromium OS

Last week, I was excited about Google's Chrome OS. So when my friend mentioned to me that I can download the binary at Chromium OS Builds by Hexxeh and try it myself, I immediately downloaded it. And put it onto a 4 GB memory card. I wanted to it on my MSi Wind U100, which could boot off its built-in memory card slot.

I managed to find some time to try it four days later. And Chromium OS booted off the memory card quite fast. It greeted me with a Login screen. Interesting, as I haven't set up an account on the OS yet. And there is no button or link to set up an account. I typed in a random user name and a random password to see what happens.

The login page automatically appended "@gmail.com" to the random user name I typed in. I pressed ENTER to get the following message:

"Network not connected and offline login fail"

Hmmmm . . . that's an interesting operating system. It requires access to your online gmail account, but doesn't give you a way to access it. How do I know whether my wireless network connection is even automatically connected to my home network?

To top it off, my home network is behind security layers that I have to configure the operating system to connect. But I can't login so how can I set-up the network connection? The Chromium OS seems quite limiting if it expects your netbook to connect to wide open network and log in to your GMail account right off the bat.

So I'm stuck. What am I suppose to do next?

Q: What are the default username/passwords for this build?
A: Default username is facepunch, default password is facepunch.

A: Simply login with the details above and try and get your internet working, reboot and the settings will be remembered, allowing you to login with your Google Account as normal.

I have Chromium OS running on the MSi Wind U100 for a few hours now. But it doesn't work with the Ralink RT2700E wireless-N network card in this netbook. I just can't seem to turn wireless on though the Chromium OS user interface.

Maybe I'll have to try the new slimmer Chromium OS Diet. The FAQ mentioned that it has "more wireless support".

By the way, I forgot to mention that this same login information does not work for the console (CTRL-ALT-F2). I have tried both "facepunch" and "[email protected]" with "facepunch" as password. Neither user name worked. Anyone have an idea to try?

Try sudo, to perform tasks that require elevated privileges.

I.E. sudo dd if=foo of=foo

password facepunch

I have logged in with facepunch facepunch.. but i am not able to change my ip dns and gateway ?
why?
if i go to my network options and press "option" nothing happens

i try to use facepunch as userid and same as password. but i cant login .. it display as "Network not connect and login offline fail".. plz help me..! as soon as possible
