Asus Notebook Power Supplies are Interchangeable... Maybe!

I have gotten my third Asus gaming laptop just recently... the Asus FX503VD. It's really a thin and light gaming laptop. But that's not the point of this post.

Previously, I have found that the power supplies for my two previous Asus gaming notebooks--G74SX and G46VW--are interchangeable. Although the power specs (I'll post them later in this post) are not exactly the same, I have found that the power supplies are interchangeable for most tasks. I have yet to bump up to the amperage limit of the difference in the power supplies.

After getting the Asus FX503VD, I have found that the power supply tip is exactly the same as the ones for G74SX and G46VW. And so far, I have been able to use the three power supplies interchangeably with the three different laptops. Though I have yet to run power hungry games on a substituted power supply.

These experiences makes me wonder if all Asus laptops uses the same power plug. The following are the power supply specs:

PA-1121-28 (Asus FX503VD)
Input: 100-240V 50-60Hz 2.0A
Output: 19.5V 6.32A with positive tip.

FA180PM111 (Asus G46VW)
Input: 100-240V 50-60Hz 2.5A
Output: 19.5V 9.23A with positive tip.

ADP-150NB D (Asus G74SX)
Input: 100-240V 50-60Hz 2.0A
Output: 19.5V 7.7A with positive tip.
