Suggestion: Mapping Mouse Buttons

After trying to add a macro to aim the sniper rifle in Left 4 Dead, I realized that the Macros Editor won't let you map mouse buttons to the n50's buttons. I believe this is going to be a critical user-acceptance issue. For a newcomer to buy into NOVA Suite, there has to be a way to map mouse buttons. Hopefully that's not too hard to accomplish.

Yep, that's not too hard and planed in my roadmap. As you thing its critical, it will be for next release. :)

That's great to hear. So far, I think that is the only feature missing from NOVA Suite that keeps it from directly replacing the Belkin software and the Total Game Control software.

Then consider it done very soon...
Let's kick Belkin's ass... they deserve it ! :)

OK, it is partially implemented.
Why partially ? Just because simulate the simple press and release of mouse button is not enough :
- Sometimes one could want to simply map a mouse button to a nostromo button press (the "mouse button"
is hold down as long as you hold the nostromo button)
...or sometimes it must combine with any other key press (with Shift or Ctrl keys for instance) --> this
In that case it can be implemented, or integrate the mouse click in a macro command.
Those are handled in the Macro-list editor. (done)
- One would prefer to simulate a simple click or double clik --> this is also proposed by the Profiler
even if the Macro-List editor permits it :) (done partially)

For sure I won't go further (autorepeat stuff), at least not for next release.
(the code is partially here from the beginng of the project... it is just awaiting to be properly handled)

But I have a concern, this is the implementation of X-Buttons, I do not know if I will do it since my Nostromo N30
does not have those buttons and I have no way to test the feature. And I don't know if it will be really usefull !
(By the way, if you know what is the use of those X-Buttons, if there are only two of them, if they have a particular assignment, I take the info ! :) )

So stay tuned for tomorrow.

Sorry, I don't know what is X-Buttons. So do you have both n30 and n50?

I think it's great that you have the simple press and release of the mouse button. That's all I need for now. And it will satisfy many players. Let us know when the new release with this feature is out.

Haha. Ok. If our baby follows schedule, then we are having him on Friday. So I guess I'll have a fun stuff to play with after we come home. ;-)

Yup. The mouse button mapping functionality works well. You might want to add a quick note to the Macros Editor by the "Start Recording" button to let people know that they can click the mouse button in the key sequence box.
