Counter-Strike: Source - Wide-Screen Resolution

Recently upgraded to a Envision 22" Wide-Screen LCD monitor, so I wanted to play Counter-Strike: Source with it. But in the video options, I found that Counter-Strike: Source doesn't support the 1680x1050 resolution. Everything looked weird on the screen. But maybe one of the resolution matches the aspect ratio.

1680x1050 = 1680 / 1050 = 1.6 (16:10)

The resolution that Counter-Strike: Source supports are:

640x480 = 640 / 480 = 1.33
720x576 = 720 / 576 = 1.25
800x600 = 800 / 600 = 1.33
1024x768 = 1024 / 768 = 1.33
1152x864 = 1152 / 864 = 1.33
1280x960 = 1280 / 960 = 1.33
1280x1024 (LCD) = 1280 / 1024 = 1.25
1360x1024 = 1360 / 1024 = 1.33
1400x1050 = 1400 / 1050 = 1.33

Counter-Strike: Source provides an assortment of different resolutions. But all of them are in the 1.25 to 1.33 aspect ratio range. None of them matches the aspect ratio of the 1680x1050 resolution. I'll try the 1400x1050 for now.

Well, looks like I'm mistaken. The Aspect Ratio is a different field in Counter-Strike: Source. The previous list I shown is for the Normal (4:3) aspect ratio. So, of course, all of the resolutions present are around 1.33. Counter-Strike: Source also provides two widescreen aspect ratios: 16:9 and 16:10. The following resolutions are supported in these widescreen modes.

16:9 Resolutions:
848x480
1280x720
1360x768

16:10 Resolutions:
720x480
1280x768
1280x800
1440x900
1680x1050

I'm happy to see that Counter-Strike: Sources supports my monitor's native resolution. I'll be using that right away.

Ahhh . . . that bmp you attached really help us understand what you guys mean that aspect ratio is locked. Do you guys have wide-screen display with 1680x1050? If so, check to make sure the correct graphics driver is installed for your graphics card. And then check that the correct driver is installed for your monitor. Make sure your graphics card is able to identify 1680x1050 monitor resolution. And you should set it that way in Windows monitor settings.

What does it show in "Display Properties"? You can get there by right-clicking on the "Desktop", click on "Properties", and then click "Settings". What does it say under "Screen resolution"?

Haha . . . I see. I checked the specs for Samsung SyncMaster 971P. It's maximum resolution is 1280x1024, which is 4:3. You can select the other aspect ratio because your monitor doesn't support it. It is going to remain locked until you get a new wide-screen monitor.

Soo I was messing with the resolution on my computer and now the counter strike menu is in the very top left corner and I can only see the bottom right half of the actual screen, I can't play the game anymore because of this. Is there any way I can change the resolution back without being in game? I have uninstalled, I have reinstalled, I uninstalled again, I uninstalled steam and deleted all the files, reinstalled steam and counter strike and I am still getting this error. Someone help me please.
