League of Legends: Best Kept Secret... PBEI have been an League of Legends plays for a long time (a year or two). It's a fun and challenging game that requires a lot of strategy and skill. Even after playing all this time, there are a lot of secrets in the game that I haven't learned. One example is the Public Beta Environment (PBE) that I finally experienced recently. The League of Legends PBE is Riot's beta server. All new changes are added and tested on the PBE prior to release in the real League of Legends servers. As the name implies, it's open to the public. And for a long time, you can sign up for it at any time. Then to prevent abuse, Riot changed it so that you can only sign up the first three days of each month. Just today, I found that its door is currently closed for new sign-ups. Riot employee is anticipating no new sign ups for the next two month. So why am I telling you about this great kept secret? After you learn about all its wonderful benefits, you can flock to the PBE server when its sign-up doors are open again. Benefit #1: Riot give you free Riot Points (RP) and Influence Points (IP). As long as you log in, you continue to receive them. And based on what I see, Riot give you a lot over a relative short time. Benefit #2: Try all the champions for free. Every week, Riot offers 10 free champions for you to play with. But you can own all of them for free on the PBE server. And some of the brand new champions can be purchased with 10 RP, which you get for free. Benefit #3: Try all the skins for free. I just got the Rocket Girl Tristana skin for 1 RP. Need I say more? Benefit #4: Test out all the runes. Because you get plenty of IP, you can try out different rune builds with your champions. No need to spend your hard earned IP in the regular server, when Riot is feeding you in PBE. Benefit #5: Practice with new abilities and new maps. All new champion changes and map changes are deployed on PBE first. Learning to play with the changes on PBE gives you a huge advantage when you compete on the normal servers. I have only played with PBE for about a month now, so I'm sure there are still tons of secrets that I don't know about. But as you can see, just from these few benefits, getting a PBE account is well worth it! Fido
