League of Legends: Fun with Runaan's Hurricane

Like my mother's music box in the attic, the Runaan's Hurricane has been in my LOL toolbox, but I never even know it existed.

That changed two nights ago when I got on with two other friends. My friends hadn't seriously played LOL for a year or two now. I had been playing Dominion bot games on and off since we stopped playing seriously.

There was three of us, so my friend chose Twisted Treeline, which we were now noobs because Riot changed it to the new Twisted Treeline map. I was a little flabbergasted that there is no Infinity Edge (IE) in Twisted Treeline. But I continued with typical Tristana build without IE. The game was a piece of cake the first two rounds. But in the third game, enemy team dynamics changed. Us three, Rengar, Katarina, and Tristana got matched to Renektan, Kayle, and Vladimir.

The Renektan and Kayle were strong and fast tanks. We had difficult time killing them. And as good tanks, they always managed to get in the way of us killing Vladimir. We were still ahead, but by mid-game, the tension of losing was increasing.

Then I saw it at the bottom of my recommended list. Runaan's Hurrican (RH) had sat there for years after I placed it there. I had never used it. I had already built Phantom Dancer (PD) and Sanguine Blade (SB). Combined with Sanguine Blade's life steal, Runaan's Hurrican can help Tristana stay out in the wild much longer. Then I can pick up the Frozen Mallet (FM) to slow down the entire enemy group. Plus, the RH description sounded like a lot of fun.

Runaan's Hurrican worked a lot better than I expected. As soon as I got it, Tristana cleared minion waves like slot machines. The dollar, or gold, signs lit up the entire wave, allowing me to purchase Frozen Mallet soon after Runaan's Hurrican. With the combination, slaughtering a wave of enemy champions was almost as easy as farming the minions.
