Not as Easy to Cheat in Neverwinter Nights 2

It's not as easy to cheat in Neverwinter Nights 2 as it was in the original Neverwinter Nights. In the original NWN, you can just load up the game in multiplayer mode and pick a decked out character to play. When the game asks you whether you want to use the character saved in the game or the character in your local vault, you pick the ladder. In NWN2, you can load up a saved game in multiplayer mode, but the game automatically loads up the character that is saved in the game. It won't let you load up a local vault character. How unfortunate . . .

So far the only work-around I can think of is to use a second copy of the game and a different character to transfer loot. I guess I'm off to buy another copy of NWN2.

Ok, I found a work-around. This work around requires you to run the game on a NWN2 server, which is included in your installation. You can run the server on the same computer as you play. When you join with the character you've been using, the server will ask you whether you want to use the character saved within the game, or your external local vault character. Pick the second choice and you will have all your items.
