PlanetSide 2: Buying Weapon Cheap with Station Cash

SOE has previously announced that all weapons can be purchased with Station Cash (SC). The maximum price of a weapon is 700 Station Cash, which translates to $7. But many old school SOE gamers will tell you that Station Cash goes on sale periodically and frequently. In fact, quite often, SOE offers SC at 2x rate. Sometimes, they even have promotion to sell SC at 3x rate.

As an example, the weekend before PlanetSide 2's release, SOE had a 2x Station Cash offer. You just had to pick up the Station Cast as your local Seven Eleven store. So, unless you really can't wait to own that gun right now, wait for a Station Cash sale. It effectively reduces the cost of a $7 gun to $3.50 and $2.34, respectively.

Cut the cost of the weapons even lower! I just found out today that if you buy special Walmart Station Cash cards, you get 500 Station Cash bonus. I haven't taken the time to figure out how much that would lower the cost by, but it's certainly better, right?

The 500SC bonus does NOT multiply; eg if you cash it in on a x2 or x3 weekend, then you get 3500SC or 5000SC. Also, GameStop has an free gun with their card. However, you are paying for tax for that $15 Walmart/GameStop card. Either way, watch the PS2 Reddit channel for heads-up for the sales.

If you wait for SC sales (often 50%), you could effectively pay 1/6 of the full retail price for your virtual goodies. Great deal; I'd recommend doing so to support Sony for their free-ish game.

The 500 SC bonus does multiply. In the last 3x sale, during Christmas, the $15 Wal-mart card gave me 6000 SC. After I told my friend, he went to the same Wal-mart and also got 6000 SC. It's also been confirmed on PlanetSide 2 forums.

I've heard that the "Free Realm" cards gives you 200 SC bonus, rather than 500 SC bonus. That's a good fall back if you can't find the 500 bonus SC cards. I haven't tried the "Free Realm" cards myself, though.
