PlanetSide 2: Upgrade Beta to Full Game

Reading the PlanetSide 2 forum, I came across a "So wait, Beta players have to re-download the game?" thread where a person was able to make a minor change to the PlanetSide 2 Beta client so that it downloads the necessary files to upgrade to the full game without actually uninstalling the beta and reinstalling PlanetSide 2. The workaround posted by "LethalPhil" is as follows:

1. Ive renamed the beta folder without the word BETA.
2. I have used the new installer.
3. I picked the default install location, it was the same as the beta(which u removed the beta word for the folder)
4. Ive clicked on advanced tool.
5. choose validate game assets.
6. verified my 3000files said 337 needed to download.
7. hope it work! :D

Another user, "Slinkston", confirmed that it works with "I confirm that this indeed works. When I ran the verify assets it said I needed to update 794 files and is only d/ling those files. The 'advanced tool' is the wrench icon on the left side of the download progress bar."

Before you try it, consider this response from a SOE representative: "This is a very bad idea, and will cause you additional problems. Please use the new installer and download the released version of the game."

You've been warned. But what's the worst that can happen? The game doesn't work, so you have to uninstall it and install the full game (as you had to anyway).
