Program Any Steering Wheel for Any PC Racing Game

Been a driving game fan for a long time. And I won't touch any driving games without a steering wheel. Somehow, steering with the left and right arrow just don't cut it. If the racing game works with the analog steering wheel controller you got, then great, you are already good to go. The problem is that many racing games don't work with the array of steering wheels that are currently on or off the market.

For example, I just Blur for $5 on Steam the other day. It's a fun destruction derby racing game with modified cars. I love sliding around the track while launching heat seeking bombs at other people online. But crazy enough, the game only supports Xbox controllers!

It would be nice to use my awesome Logitech Driving Force steering wheel for PS2 (it works on PC's too). I'm also willing to settle for my trusty UltraRacer steering wheel for PlayStation 2 on my PC, rather than taking a chance to purchase and try a Xbox steering wheel on my PC. After all, there is no indication that Blur will even work with a Xbox steering wheel.

The trick is to use a macro programmer on the controller to map the keyboard to the controller buttons and axis. But not every macro programming software will do. Most macro programming software, like Total Game Control (one of my favorite), can't handle analog axis threshold. So those macro programming software, won't activate any keys until the steering wheel has traveled half-way in any one direction. That means the car steering response is horrid.

With the headache on Blur, I went seeking the perfect macro programming software for steering wheels. And I found one. It's a shareware program called JoyToKey (see "Related Links" below). I tried version 5.0.2 and it support analog threshold. It defaults at 2% and works wonderfully with my UltraRacer controller on Blur.
