* Cannot get a file [version.ini] !

I haven't played War Rock in a long time. My brother has bought me Battlefield 2 and has been pestering me to play BF2 rather than the free War Rock. Even though I've kinda like the War Rock interface and style a little more, I also wanted to play with my bro.

Today, I installed a new Intel Pentium 4 CPU and Intel motherboard. I wanted to give the built-in ATi Radeon Xpress 200 graphic a try. The easiest game to bring up without loading any CD's is War Rock.

Surprise, surprise, I was greeted with the "* Cannot get a file [version.ini] !" message. And, of course, no matter how many times I restarted the application, I got the same message.

Did I lag on the update for too long and it cannot update an obsolete version of War Rock? Maybe. But I suppose this problem could be easily fixed if I just go download the latest version from the War Rock web site.

To download the War Rock client, you'll have to register with the web site. And obviously I have already registered, because I already have to client installed.

But yet, the War Rock web site disagrees. I was greeted with the "Username and Password combination do not exist, please try again." message. And I tried my username and password a few times.

Nevertheless, I decided to heed to its advide and use the "Forgot Login" page. But guess what, my e-mail address doesn't even exist in their system. Well, the only thing left to do is to re-register.

It's only after re-registering that I kinda got a hint to why my account disappeared. War Rock web site only allows lowercase usernames. I had registered an username with title case. It had worked before. I suppose they started cracking down on rogue accounts now.

Good news is that I successfully registered and am downloading the client now. But it's 240.3 MB in size, so it will take a while. I'll post again after trying the new client.

Sure enough, after installing the new War Rock client, I was immediated able to run it. It is now downloading all the new updates.

Got the same problem but the error show only the next day. I downloaded the client last night and played for hours, then the next morning boom theirs the error... how can i fix this thank!

If you have vista, run as admin, if you have xp then u should already be admin, if ur not then you have to get your admin to give warrock full privlages

heey guys i had the same problen whith version.ini so i was downloading warrock again and then that was done i started the wr_installer_07312007.exe then the next message whas coming: in setup.exe is an error found and must be closed sorry for this problem then you can do send or don't send how can i fix this??

Hey umm.. the client file this guy says is 240 mb but the client file on the website is 473 mb :S. what the hell do i neeed to download

Of course it's bigger now. They've updated the game numerous times. The 240.3 MB was written way back in 2006. Download the newest and the latest.

i know hot you play warrock whitout "cannot get version.ini"
delete your virus scan and allow whit fire wall Warrock
if isnt work turn off your firewall
