Intel Desktop Board D102GGC2 only works with Windows XP Service Pack 2Today, I've upgraded my game machine to an Intel Pentium 4 531 CPU and an Intel Desktop Board D102GGC2 microATX motherboard. After installing the hardware and connected the cables, I booted up the computer, only to find that the USB port and the Realtek audio doesn't work. At least Windows XP Professional couldn't find drivers for them. Real weird problem. So I started playing with the driver CD-ROM that came with the motherboard. I tried to manual install the two drivers, but failed. In the Realtek audio driver directory I saw a "setup.exe" file, so I tried to run that. It started unpacking itself, then reported a message that it requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Ah ha! Although I was flustered that the the Intel actually packaged drivers that won't work with a base Windows XP install, at least now I have a lead. I never updated the Windows XP installation on my game machine because I want to keep it clean. Too many different updates and software application on a game machine only breaks the games. I have long learned that experience. Build a game machine and keep it clean, then all the new games and old games will run happily ever after. Anyway, I updated to Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 and the drivers installed just fine. But it still bothers me that Intel shipped drivers that require more than a base install. All the non-Intel motherboards that I have never posed such problems to me before. Now I'll have to think twice about going with Intel in the future. Chieh Cheng i have intel board D102GGC2 ,pentium D 2.8GHZ 512MB ram problem is booting veeresh
