VirtualBox Ubuntu 14.04 LTS - Guest Additions Installation Failure

I have installed the VirtualBox 4.3.28 on my newer Lenovo Y50, just a step up from the 4.3.26 that was installed on my older Asus G46vw. Upon Moving VirtualBox VM's to my new notebook computer, I have found that Ubuntu 14.04 LTS VM runs perfectly fine... until I have updated it through the Software Updater.

Afterward, the Ubuntu desktop was tiny relative to the 1920x1080 display. So, I ran the Guest Additions installer, which normally fixed this problem. But this time, I got the following error (the full output is attached below):

"Warning: unknown version of the X Window System installed. Not installing
X Window System drivers.
...done.
Installing graphics libraries and desktop services components ...fail!"

I restarted the virtual machine, but it didn't solve the problem. I followed the last step in the "unknown version of the X Window System installed. Not installing X Window System drivers" and was able to get this problem resolved with the following command:

  sudo apt-get install virtualbox-guest-x11

I hope, in the future, I can go back to using the Guest Addition virtual CD. But this may have to be the alternative solution if the virtual CD doesn't work.
