How to make a bootable iATKOS ML2 USB drive on Mac OS X

I'm in the process of getting my Asus G46VW-BSI5N06 gaming ultrabook to triple boot Windows 8, Ubuntu 12.10, and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). So far, pre-installed Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.10 is working. But I'm having trouble getting started with Mac OS X, as I couldn't even get iATKOS ML2 to boot. Disk Utility on my Leopard has so many options, I'm just not sure what's the correct option to choose.

After watching the iATKOS - How to make a bootable iATKOS ML2 USB Drive - Mac only video, the process became clear. But I'd rather get down to the task with a written set of instructions than sitting through a five minute video. I have transcribed the video into step-by-step instructions below.

1. Launch Disk Utility.
2. Select USB drive.
3. Select the "Partition" tab.
4. Change volume scheme to "1 Partition".
5. Change the name to "Installer".
6. Change format to "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
7. Use the entire size of the USB drive.
8. Click "Apply".
9. Go to the "Restore" tab.
10. Pick the "iATKOS ML2.dmg" as the source.
11. Drag the "Installer" partition to the destination.
12. Click on the "Restore" button.
13. Click on the "Erase" button.
14. Type in the root password and hit "OK".
15. Launch the "ML2_Bootloader_Installer".
16. Select the "iATKOS ML2" USB drive.
17. Click "Install".
18. Type in the root password.
19. Close the boot installer.

I tested this process on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard). The final USB drive still won't boot. So I'm guessing that Mac OS X 10.5.8 is too old to make a bootable Mountain Lion USB. Can anyone confirm one way or another?

Hi, venhow! Did you get the process to work? Is your step 20 the same as the step 15 above? Or am I mis-understanding what installing ML2_Bootloader_Installer.pkg.zip means?
