Can't log into Windows Live MessengerMy wife is trying to get the new Windows Live Messenger to work. It's Version 8.0 (Build 8.0.0812.00). Every time she tries to log in, she gets the following message: Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. No matter how many times she tries, she gets the same error. Yet, she is able to log in with her old Windows Messenger Version 4.7 (4.7.3001). Anyone know what's going on? Chieh Cheng Ok, I got a little further. I search for error code 80040111 at Windows Live Help and found some instructions. Here is what it says: Error 80040111 or 80040154: You cannot sign in to Windows Live Messenger I tried re-registering the DLL files and now I get the same message, but a different error code . . . 81000395. Chieh Cheng Error code 81000395 is a basic login error that says you are using invalid characters to sign in, etc. So I suppose my wife typed in her password incorrectly. I just had her try again and she is able to log in. So I think re-registering the DLL solved the problem. I hope this solution is useful to you. Chieh Cheng I tried reregistering the dll files and it failed and then i tried reinstalling the XML Parser but that didn't do anything either i still get the same error code. Jayde It turned out to be some anti-virus problem for me. If you have AVG, like I do, you can do this: open AVG, click on Web Shield, click on the Instant Messaging tab, and uncheck MSN Protection. This obviously means ANY FILES SENT TO YOU BY MSN WILL NOT BE SCANNED FOR VIRSUSES, so be sure you trust the person sending you things. Halothar I don't have AVG (which most of the posts which fix this tells you to adjust). To fix this, I went to: http://www.eggheadcafe.com/forumarchives/msnmessenger/Sep200 . . . and followed steps 7 and 8. Pp Hey i found out a way to get on msn my Hotmail.com.... When you log in go to the top right corner and you will see javascript:; (messenger) click on that and then you can talk to people from there :) only way i can do it Alex MS Live Messenger service is useless, when one attempts to use the option for those who've forgotten the password. The "HIP" sign-in which reqires one to type in the special characters informs me time and again that I've not correctly entered things. Oh well, I guess I've lost that account. Good riddance. I'll stay with Google and Yahoo.
