Belco Alpha 400

The Acer Aspire One is one of the best netbooks on the market and other netbooks are being constantly compared to it. When the Belco Alpha 400 is stacked against the Acer Aspire One, the Belco netbook loses the battle. Yes, the Belco Alpha 400 has many of the functionalities of other netbooks such as WiFi, ultra-portability, ear and microphone jacks, and three hour battery life, but many users still feel that the Belco Alpha 400 is underpowered. For the netbook crowd that only wants to browse the internet or send an email, the Belco Alpha 400 has the power needed for those functions.

The Belco Alpha 400 is good for checking mail, communication, and light internet browsing. The best thing about the Belco Alpha 400 is that it's one of the cheapest netbooks on the market. It has broken the typical $350 and up price range that most netbooks are selling for in the marketplace. You can snag a Belco Alpha 400 for $170.00, which is less than a cellular phone or blackberry. For tight budgets who want the ultra-portability that a netbook provides but prefer to start at the low-end on prices, Belco Alpha 400 is a perfect solution.

The netbook has a 7-inch screen which has a resolution of 800 x 480. The netbook also has 1GB of internal memory, WiFi connectivity, and 128MB RAM. Although the netbook only has 1GB of storage, users can insert a memory card slot that will hold another 32GB. The additional space the memory card provides is a definite bonus and makes the price look even more reasonable.

The Belco Alpha 400 runs on a Linux pre-installed operating system. Some netbook users will be unhappy to find out that Windows XP doesn't run on the netbook. Belco users are officially stuck with Linux. The netbook can be used to internet surf, download music, provide instant online communication, a personal diary, picture sharing, flash movies and games. In addition to all the basics there are other functionalities on the netbook that allows users to play around with charts, graphs, word processing, and daily planning.

Although there are various functions promised by the designers of the Belco Alpha 400, the netbook should also come with a stern warning that it is a bare-bones netbook. Without spending much, consumers who need something they can easily carry around to hold all their documents and email have the Belco Alpha 400 as an option.

Overall, the netbook seems to be more suitable for the student on the go, rather than the professor on the go. The pricing on the netbook is also perfect for the student as well.
