Prevent Opera Browser from Creating Desktop Shortcut and Task Bar ShortcutIt's really annoying that the latest version of Opera browser keeps putting a desktop shortcut on my Windows 10 laptop. And I have had enough today when I found that it also placed a taskbar shortcut. After dinking around with it, I noticed that if you delete "installation_status.json" from "C:\Program Files\Opera", it no longer places shortcut(s) on start. Hopefully, it will stay that way. Gonna have to keep my eyes on this one. Jake Great tip! I created a blank file and saved it in the folder as installation_status.json (overwriting the original) and made it read-only. In that way, subsequent updates do not create a fresh installation_status.json file and a new and infuriating link on the desktop and taskbar. Thanks! David Paul Great tip, David! Thanks you. Best Father's Day present ever! Bill
