Marriage of iPhone and Roomba
These days, all the rage is about apps and the iPhone. But I thought of a good app that might be really cool to have if there are any developer who might want to take up this mantle. A Roomba app that allows you to remotely set timers and where you want it to clean.
Of course, it would take cooperation from Roomba to make one with Wi-Fi card inside it.
While we're at it, why not a webcam as well? Double as a security device as it goes around the room. Add a small LED light so you can see where it is going in dark tight spots and whether the Roomba missed a spot or not.
I am almost certain there are hacks out there with just such a thing.
As far as i can see, there are hacks out there but nothing official from Roomba. I think it would be a great opportunity for Roomba to get folks to upgrade their existing units. Perhaps, they can offer an upgrade kit for a Wi-Fi card and Webcam.
Here are two sites I was able to quickly Binged (just kidding, I Googled), one for a book called "Hacking Roomba", if you're the adventurous type and know your way around gears and hacks:
For anyone who is interested, I made an iPhone app that does just this. It is called Roomote (for Roomba remote). You need some extra hardware to make things work (a serial cable or a Bluetooth module for the Roomba plus a server app running on your Mac computer), but it is a fun hack, anyway!

Here another hack for Roomba from Carnlan Engineering. this links show an application running on iPhone and controlling Roomba with iPhone's accelerometer.
The Roomba Wifi Remote by Carnlan makes you able to control iRobot Roomba with a simple TCP/IP Socket in any platform.
