Moving? Get the phone number you want!
I have Verizon local telephone service for several years. I moved recently, so it's time to move my telephone account as well. Verizon makes it really easy to do over the web. All you have to do is visit its web site and click on "Moving? Verizon makes it easy!" Once you have entered all of your information, it presents a lit of 5 telephone numbers for you to choose from. (Why it doesn't let me keep my current number is beyond me.) Now, the numbers might not be what you like. And no matter how many times you hit refresh, the system won't give you a list of new numbers.
I have found a way to get the system to give you a new batch of numbers. You'll have to sign out of their web site or close your browser. Go through the move process again. It's a pain, but it works. On my second try, there was a number I liked.
This Verizon feature won't move your Verizon Online DSL service automatically. Instead, you'll have to call 800-567-6789.
