May 28, 2010 · I was able to swap out the original hard drive with a Hitachi 1TB drive and it works fine just like any other external enclosure.
The hard drive inside is a Western Digital WD5000AAKS Caviar SE16. It is connected via the 16-bit USB control via SATA. To remove the hard drive, you'll have to unscrew the circuit board first.
