HP mini-note 2133: Comfortable and well protected
DigiTimesand Apcmagdisagree about who is the builder of the HP mini-note 2133, the first one argues that is Inventec, while the second one that it is Compal Electronics, the same builder of Dell Inspiron mini 9and MSI Wind; the fact is that HP launched it in April 2008 for educational purposes, and it is recognized for its external aluminum shell, Plexiglas screen protection and shock protection on its hard drive. The HP mini-note 2133 is also recognized for its wide variety of operative systems, you can buy it already configured with SUSE Linux Enterprise, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Business. In the most basic configuration it includes a Via C7 M processor at 1.0GHz, 512MB in RAM at 533MHz, 4GB solid-state drive for storage, an 8.9 inches screen, WLAN, Ethernet 10/100/1000, Bluetooth, SD card reader and a 3 cell Lithium-ion battery for 2 hours of life time. These options can be customized to a 1.6GHz processor, 1GB in RAM, 120GB hard-drive for storage and a 6 cell Lithium-ion battery for 4 hours of life time. Even though the HP mini models appeared this year they have developed two new models, the HP mini 1000 XP Edition Series and the HP mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition Series. The XP series is built with a 8.9 inches screen or a 10.2 inches screen, it´s storage options include an 8GB or 16GB solid-state drive or a 60GB hard-disk drive and it comes with Windows XP Home Edition with SP3 included; as a special feature it has 8GB extra storage in a HP mini mobile drive included with the mini-note. The Vivienne Tam series distinguishes itself because of it is able to connect to internet via 3G, but it requires activation; it comes in a purple-pink color with some flower drawings on the cover, the screen is only available in 10.2 inches, the processor is an Intel Atom N270 that runs at 1.6GHz, it has 1GB in RAM and for storage comes with a 16GB solid-state drive or a 60GB hard-disk drive. The HP mini models include among their software, Microsoft Works 9, Windows Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media Player 11 on its Windows XP and Vista versions, and all the new models comes with a webcam, high-definition audio and microphone. The HP mini-note 2133 has demonstrated to be one of the most reliable netbooks for educational purposes.
