DeWALT 20V MAX Battery Pack

It has been reported that the DeWALT XR 20V batteries does not have built-in over discharge protection. Therefore, if you choose to use the DeWALT batteries with an adapter, be sure that the Craftsman V20 power tool has over discharge protection built-in or make sure you don't over drain the battery.

Milwaukee M18 RedLithium Battery Pack

It has been reported that the Milwaukee M18 batteries does not have built-in over discharge protection. Therefore, if you choose to use the Milwaukee M18 batteries with an adapter, be sure that the Craftsman V20 power tool has over discharge protection built-in or make sure you don't over drain the battery.

Ridgid 18V Battery Pack

The adapter above is a do-it-yourself adapter, so you will need to provide the circuitry to make it work. Luckily, you don't have to provide the over-discharge protection circuitry, because it has been reported that the Ridgid 18V batteries do have built-in over discharge protection. Therefore, it should be safe to use Ridgid 18V batteries with an adapter on Craftsman V20 power tools. But you might consider disassembly your Ridgid 18V battery to ensure that there is an over discharge protection circuit.

Also, you'll need to make the Craftsman V20 power tool "recognize" the battery with a resistor in the adapter. Be sure to check out the "Craftsman V20 Power Tools Battery Interface" article link at the top of this page.
