Sommer Direct Drive 1042V001 ReviewWhen my garage door opener failed for my single bay door, I began looking for a new garage door opener. Being a cutting-edge professional in the technology field, I always looked at the latest and greatest inventions. And American garage door opener technology hadn't changed in thirty years. The latest American garage door innovation was the Wayne Dalton idrive, but it was killed off by a non-innovating competitor (that's another story to be told elsewhere on this site). So once again, I looked at the garage door opener selection and were not impressed with the typical Chamberlain and Genie selections. But I became a lot more interested when I came across the Sommer garage door openers. Its lowest end garage door openers starts ta 3/4 HP and it's highest end provides 1 HP; power not heard of in the American garage door openers. Taking a closer look, Sommer is a German brand and it's garage door openers are advertised to be innovating with its extremely quiet operation. Being a big fan of new innovation and quiet, it immediately caught my attention. The Wayne Dalton idrive was extremely quiet compared to the typical Chamberlain and Genie products. Can the Sommer garage door opener beat the idrive in quietness? In this article, I will review the SOMMER Direct Drive 1042V001 3/4 HP Garage Door Opener, which I have installed and is operating in my garage. Package (Unboxing)

CostI picked up the SOMMER Direct Drive 1042V001 3/4 HP Garage Door Opener at the local Lowes home improvement store, because its price matched Amazon's online price. The opener price was extremely affordable. It costed between $200 and $400 depends on the options. The unit I wanted, purchased, and reviewed here, costed $228. Compared to the Wayne Dalton idrive, the Sommer garage door opener at $228 is considered a bargain. For the typical American technology, I'd pay no more than $175. Compared to that, the Sommer product doesn't carry a hefty price tag. From my experience with its performance, which I will review shortly, the price is excellent. I'd take a Sommer for $228 over any American garage door opener for $175 any day. Related Links
