Getting the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n50 to Work on Windows Vista

Over the past few years, I have grown to depend on the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n50. It helps me greatly with my FPS and RTS games. Today, I don't play any game without it.

When I upgraded to Windows Vista, my Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n50 stopped working. The Belkin Loadout Manager and the Profile Editor no longer sees the hardware device. The Device Manager shows that the hardware device is working properly. But the Belkin software just will not see the device.

Since then, I have purchased a copy of Total Game Control. Total Game Control is like the Belkin Loadout Manager and the Belkin Profile Editor. It lets you program the keys and controls to your liking. In fact, it not only does it for the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n50, but also any other game control device. It costs only $20 from Digital Transforms (see "Related Links" below). After paying for it online, they send you the key immediately and lets you download a patch to eliminate the trial limitation.

Since then, I've been porting my existing Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n50 profiles over to Total Game Control. And as with the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n50 profiles that I posted on this web site, I will start to post Total Game Control profiles along side the Belkin profiles.

Just been reading your GearHack.

Have you any profiles already for Total Game Control?

I am an ancient ancient (retired) gamer and I have great difficulty programming the x and y parts of the control.

have you any thoughts that might help me master this system.

Here are all of the profiles I've made for the n50:

I intend to post profiles for both Belkin Loadout Manager and Total Game Control. Some of the games have already been converted. Others I still have to do.

I don't understand what you mean by "x and y parts of the control". If you can explain it to me, maybe I can help you.

Anyone know if this works in Vista 64 bit? I plan on switching after the holidays and want to know if I'll be able to use the Nostromo n50.

Dave, check out the "Nostromo N50 On Vista Project" in the TrackBack below. It looks very promising. And the author is looking for feedback right now. Get your input in.
