Sony VAIO VGN-S5XP Doesn't Recognize Battery
Thanks for the unvaluable information about the meaning of Sony's battery connector. I have a problem with my vaio VGN S5XP: the battery is not recognised anymore. I tried a brand new battery and it is the same.
I exclude a OS problem since the battery led is flashing far before any OS is loaded. By the way I can use either windows or linux and both of them report a battery 100% charged, although the led blinks.
However I tested the voltage +- and it is 12 V at the beginning (or before the battery led starts to blink) and it goes to 5 V when the led blinks.
I figured that this might be a problem with the battery board; has anybody an idea on how this board works? If there are any replaceable parts? In this particular model the board is on the motherboard.
Thanks for any help
I have 2 exact SONY VGN-SZ440 laptops and both of them have the same issue with the battery not being reconized. One of them shows the icon as charging but it never actually charges it while the other acts like it is not installed at all. one lap top was only in use for about 2 months as it was a back up to my wifes who won't give up her current XP system. I wanted to keep things simple by using the same brand and OS for the house.
