HP Pavilion DV6-3050us External Display Doesn't Work After Upgrading to Windows 10

I use myHP Pavilion dv6-3050us Entertainment Notebook as an entertainment computer for my big screen TV. It's connected to the TV via HDMI port. So far, it's been happily running Windows 7 Home Premium without any problems.

Microsoft has been nagging me about upgrading to Windows 10 for free. Finally, I have done it. But now I can't get the external display to work. Windows 10 reports something about the driver, even though I have already installed the ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650 driver for it.

I should have written down the error message. But I have since then reverted back to Windows 7 Home Premium so that I can continue to use the laptop with my TV. What could cause this problem?
